## Important limitations

AI likeness and generated details vary. There is no one-click WhatsApp import or guaranteed compatibility with every app version. The first sticker task creates and saves the character; new reactions use credits.

## How it works

1. **Upload your photo** — Sign in and verify your email, then upload a clear, front-facing photo. The AI creates your cartoon character; likeness varies with the photo and generated result.
2. **Pick reactions and add captions** — Choose hello, love, laugh and other animated reactions. Add an optional caption of up to 20 characters. Each reaction is a separate task.
3. **Download and import** — Preview your result and download animated WebP or GIF. Use an importer that supports animated WebP and your WhatsApp version to package and import the WebP files.

## Platforms & formats

WeChat creations download as 240×240 GIF files. Each reaction costs 10 credits, including an optional caption.

Download the GIF to your phone and add it through a supported WeChat sticker-collection flow. Controls and file limits vary by app version. This product creates personal chat reactions; it does not submit packs to the WeChat sticker store.

Animated WebP: 512×512. GIF: 240×240. Both formats are included in the 10-credit cost of each completed WhatsApp reaction.

StickersMaker provides downloads, not one-click WhatsApp import. Animated WebP needs a compatible animated-sticker import workflow; compatibility depends on the tool, operating system and app version. GIF can be shared as an animation and is not the same as a WhatsApp sticker.

Telegram creations include a 512×512 VP9 WebM video sticker and a 240×240 GIF for chat. The WebM is checked for dimensions, duration, frame rate, transparency, file size and absence of audio before delivery.

Download the WebM and upload it through @Stickers. StickersMaker prepares the file; you publish the pack in Telegram. No separate file conversion is needed for this WebM. The GIF is for chat sharing.

Discord creations include a 320×320 transparent APNG and GIF. Both are limited to 500000 bytes, below Discord’s 512 KiB ceiling. The APNG is checked for animation, dimensions, transparency, duration and looping before delivery.

Upload the APNG through your server’s sticker settings. It does not need another size or format conversion. You still need upload permission and an available sticker slot; the site does not upload to Discord for you.

### How to Make Animated Stickers of Yourself

To make animated stickers of yourself, start with one clear portrait, turn it into a cartoon character, choose the reactions you want, and export the finished animations for your chat app. StickersMaker lets you save the character so you can create more reactions later without uploading the same photo again.

#### 1. Choose a clear photo

Use a well-lit portrait with one person and a visible face. A front-facing photo works best. Include your hairstyle, glasses or other accessories you want the model to see. Upload PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 5 MB, with permission from the person pictured.

#### 2. Turn the photo into a cartoon character

Choose a platform and submit your first sticker task. That task creates the cartoon character and its first animated reaction. Character creation is included in this task; it is not a separate free avatar export.

#### 3. Save the character

The completed character is saved to your account. You can keep up to 20 characters and select an existing one when creating another sticker, without uploading the original photo again.

#### 4. Choose reactions

Choose one or several reactions in the maker. Every selected reaction is a separate sticker task. Add an optional caption if you want, then review your selection before creating.

#### 5. Choose the chat platform

Choose WhatsApp, WeChat, Telegram or Discord before submitting. Each maker produces the formats and dimensions configured for that destination. A file made for one platform may not fit another platform unchanged.

#### 8. Does the background stay transparent?

The supported animated output formats preserve transparent regions. GIF supports fully transparent or opaque pixels; animated WebP supports partial alpha for softer edges. Check the original animation on light and dark backgrounds. Screenshots, viewers and third-party importers can change how transparency appears.

### GIF vs animated WebP for stickers

Choose an animation format for the destination, then inspect the actual original. Compare a real GIF and animated WebP export, including size, timing and transparency, alongside the current formats for all four makers.

#### GIF and animated WebP solve different delivery needs

GIF is widely shared as a looping chat animation. It uses a palette of up to 256 colors per frame and supports fully transparent pixels, rather than smooth partial transparency. Small curved edges can look rough on a contrasting background.

Animated WebP can retain partial transparency around hair and curved outlines. A chat client, file preview and official sticker pack may each support different formats. Changing a filename extension does not convert the file.

#### Start with the platform, then choose the format

For WeChat, start with the 240×240 GIF and follow the current personal-sticker help. For WhatsApp sticker packs, use the 512×512 animated WebP and an appropriate pack workflow; sending the GIF in chat is a different action.

The Telegram maker now exports a 512×512 VP9 WebM for video-sticker workflows, with a GIF for chat sharing. The Discord maker exports 320×320 APNG for server stickers and a 320×320 GIF for chat. These platform-specific outputs are not represented by the older two-file sample below.

#### Check the original before importing

Download the original directly rather than saving its preview or forwarding it through a chat app. Inspect the canvas, frame count, duration and file size; an extension alone says little about the content. Our browser checker currently inspects GIF and WebP.

If the file animates locally but import fails, record the exact app or tool error and versions. We are collecting separate iOS and Android evidence for the import tutorials. Until those are ready, use the existing help links below.

#### Format references and limits

The current makers target GIF 240×240 for WeChat; animated WebP 512×512 for WhatsApp; silent VP9 WebM 512×512, up to three seconds and 30 fps for Telegram; APNG 320×320 for Discord. Exports are capped at 500,000 bytes, except Telegram WebM at 256,000 bytes.

These are our export targets, not a universal upload limit for every app and phone. WhatsApp animated stickers have a 500 KB limit and packs require at least three stickers. Telegram video stickers have a 256 KB limit. Discord server stickers have a 512 KiB limit; our 500,000-byte export cap is stricter. Check the official references for the destination and any separate pack or server permissions.

### Turn a photo into cartoon stickers

Pick a clear portrait, create a saved cartoon character with your first reaction, then reuse it for more animated stickers. The six public examples below show the photo-to-character idea without exposing customer photos.

#### Choose a photo with one clear subject

Use a sharp, well-lit portrait with the face visible. Avoid a tiny face in a group shot, strong shadows, a heavy filter or a hand covering the face. Crop around the person rather than including a busy room.

Upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 5 MB. Use a photo you own or have permission to use. A clearer source gives the model more useful information, but does not guarantee an exact likeness.

#### Create the character during the first sticker task

Choose a platform and one or more reactions in its maker. The first task generates a cartoon character and saves it for reuse. There is no separate free character-only creation step.

Start with one familiar reaction to judge the result. Generated faces, clothing and motion can vary from the original photo and between reactions. The public examples are curated AI demonstrations, not a promise of identical output.

Choose a reaction that suits your conversation. An optional caption can add context; check the preview and the supported-text guidance in the maker before submitting.

#### Return to the saved character

Select the character from your saved collection, choose another reaction and submit the new sticker. You can keep up to 20 characters and reuse them across the four platform makers.

Selecting a saved character is free. Creating a new reaction still costs 10 credits. Download the file produced for your chosen destination; a WhatsApp WebP cannot be uploaded unchanged as a Discord server sticker.

#### Keep the original file for sharing

Download the completed original and check that it plays before trying an import. Chat apps may flatten a preview or recompress a forwarded attachment. Keep your downloaded file for repeat tests.

Follow the format comparison for the destination and the current help sections for import. We will add illustrated phone tutorials after iOS and Android recordings have been reviewed.

## Transparency and original-file checks

GIF uses on-or-off transparency. An edge cannot keep the same partial transparency as WebP. The WeChat download is a 240×240 GIF.

Animated WebP supports partial alpha transparency. WhatsApp creations include a 512×512 animated WebP, plus a 240×240 GIF for animation sharing.

The checked downloadable GIF and WebP samples contain transparent regions in every frame, with 20 frames over 3 seconds. WebP samples retain partial transparency; GIF samples use binary transparency. These checks do not guarantee every generated result or phone import workflow.

Your file stays on this device. We do not upload it, save it, or include its name or content in analytics.

Why does a transparent sticker look like it has a background?
